Mohamed Mbougar Sarr is a Senegalese writer. After following the curiculum at the Prytanée Military Academy of Saint-Louis, Sénégal, he pursued his study of humanities in France, first in a preparatory literary class then at the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, Paris. His novel, La Cale ((The Wedge)), received the Stéphane Hessel Prize for Young Francophone Writers. He has published three novels: Terre Ceinte ((A Circle Round the Earth)) (Présence Africaine, 2015 – Ahmadou Kourouma Prize 2015); Grand Prix for the Mixed-Race Novel 2015, Secondary Students’ Mixed-Race Prize 2015); Silence du Coeur ((The Silence of the Heart)) (Présence Africaine, 2017 – Museum of Immigration Prize 2018 ; World–Literature Prize, Festival of Extraordinary Travellers 2018); Mixed-Race Prize of the Readers of Saint-Denis de la Réunion 2018); De Purs Hommes ((Of Pure Men)) (Philippe Rey – Jimsaan, 2018).
