"Polyphony of Voices" workshop

Director(s)  Samuel Thomas

As part of the exhibition Though It’s Dark, Still I Sing: Works from the 34th Bienal of São Paulo, LUMA Arles invited a class from Ampère middle school to participate in the educational project “Polyphony of Voices”. In collaboration with Arno Villenave, a director and audiovisual writing professional, the students imagined several radio creations inspired by the work Letter to the Old World by Jaider Esbell. Like the artist, who superimposes his texts and drawings on the pages of a Western art history book, the students superimposed their own recorded voices with archival recordings, whose narrative they wished to interrogate.
