Faced with environmental concerns, we are hearing more and more about "ecological transition". This expression refers to the transition from the current mode of energy consumption and production - which uses mainly non-renewable energy sources - to a more sustainable model based on the use of so-called renewable resources. But what is really happening? According to Jean-Baptiste Fressoz, the history of energy is not one of transitions but of energy additions. So how come that we talk about transitions in history and for the future? How is it that this notion has become a mainstream discourse? Has there really been an energy transition? Is it a myth?
