National Architecture Days 2026
As part of the National Architecture Days, LUMA Arles offers a free program exploring the diversity of its architecture, from The Tower, designed by Frank Gehry, to Le Magasin Électrique.
From discovering the work of Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry to experimenting with materials and images, visitors of all ages can find different ways to observe, understand, and engage with architecture.

During this one-hour guided tour, a LUMA Arles cultural guide introduces visitors to the distinctive worlds of two major architects: Zaha Hadid and Frank Gehry. Both associated with deconstructivism, they pushed the boundaries of architecture with bold, fluid, and unexpected forms.

This guided tour of The Tower takes visitors behind the scenes of its construction and development, exploring the different stages of the project and the technical challenges involved in bringing this extraordinary building to life.

Le Magasin Électrique was developed through research led by Atelier LUMA, LUMA Arles’ design research laboratory. Many of the building’s features were created using locally sourced and transformed materials, from earth and algae to plant fibres.
This guided tour traces the transformation of this former industrial building, renovated in collaboration with BC architects & studies and Assemble, and explores the material research that shaped its new life.
Visitors will also get a glimpse into some of the research spaces it houses today—from workshops and laboratories to a garden of dye plants—and discover how working with existing buildings can open up new ways of thinking about construction, in response to the theme “Rehabilitate: Building the Future".

On a postcard featuring The Tower or the landscaped park, participants are invited to let their imagination run wild and reinvent LUMA Arles: repaint the façades, change the colors, erase a volume, or imagine a new one.
Inspired by artist Gerhard Richter’s exhibition Overpainted Photographs, this workshop invites participants to transform an image—to reinterpret it, cover it up, or reveal something new.
Each postcard becomes a one-of-a-kind project to take home as a keepsake.

Please note: the activity booklet is available in French only. Children are still welcome to take part, and other activities are available in the space.
Open during every school holiday, Le rendez-vous des enfants is a space for children ages 0–12, where kids and families can play, create, and experiment.
As part of the National Architecture Days, older children are invited to step into the shoes of architects. Using a booklet provided on site, they can take on a series of building challenges: imagine a city of the future, build a tower taller than themselves, create a building without right angles, or construct a bridge or monument. Using KAPLA, Clixo, and other building blocks, everyone can experiment and bring their ideas to life.
Once they have completed the challenges, the young architects will receive an official certificate as a junior builder.
A reading corner dedicated to architecture will also be available, with a selection of books and picture books to explore on site.
