Born in Japan in 1993, Akari Takenobu is currently pursuing her master’s degree at Tokyo University of the Arts. Inspired by childhood experiences often described as ‘paranormal’, she has an enduring fascination for invisible worlds and the world’s underlying structures, which she explores through photography, collage and installation. She also creates works from images of infrared interference, looking at the possibility of generating forms from realms normally inaccessible to human perception. She often rematerialises her images, turning them into sculptures or installation pieces that allow her to deepen her reflections on the structures and variations of the invisible. Takenobu’s work has already been featured in exhibitions in Japan, where she has also taken part in artist residency programmes.
