Offprint: A Platform for Independent Publishing

Offprint took a slightly different approach from its London and Paris fairs, aiming to give the public a clearer picture of what independent publishing can be. To do so, it invited Quintal—a print and publishing studio specializing in risograph and laser printing—to conceive and produce books in collaboration with artists invited to LUMA Arles.

In this video, Yannick Bouillis, Offprint’s artistic director and founder, and Oscar Ginter, founder and co-director of Quintal, discuss some of the lesser-known aspects of publishing and the challenges facing independent publishers today.

This invitation is part of Offprint’s broader mission as a research and support platform for artistic creation led by LUMA Arles, extending well beyond its fairs. Offprint provides ongoing support to independent publishers, artists, art schools, research centers, and collectives, bringing their practices to light and creating spaces for reflection and exchange.

Offprint supports independent and experimental publishing in the fields of art, architecture, design, the humanities, and visual culture. Since its inception, the Offprint platform has championed independent publishing through two annual publishers’ fairs in London and Paris.

Offprint has been produced by LUMA Arles since 2015.
