Le Magasin Électrique
During this guided tour led by the architects of BC, participants will discover the transformation of Le Magasin Électrique, a former industrial building in the Parc des Ateliers renovated by Atelier LUMA in collaboration with BC architects & studies and Assemble. This three-year experimental project gave rise to Lot 8, a research initiative exploring architecture rooted in the use of local, bio-based materials.
Throughout the tour, visitors will encounter the many experiments integrated into the building, including rammed earth walls, plant-fiber panels, and objects and architectural elements made from algae and bioplastics.
Visitors will also explore the different spaces within Le Magasin Électrique, home to Atelier LUMA, which brings together research spaces, laboratories, prototyping workshops, and offices dedicated to developing new practices in design and architecture.
This tour is presented as part of Environmental History, a program by LUMA Arles and Out & About, an initiative of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and the EUmies Awards, the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, for which Le Magasin Électrique is nominated.
