    Fan Fiction, Science Fiction, and the Epistemic Community of AI Safety

    For several years, information science researcher Shazeda Ahmed has studied information systems, surveillance technologies, and social credit systems in China. In this talk, she presents her latest research while introducing a new area of inquiry: the utopian and dystopian imaginaries of engineers working on artificial intelligence in the United States.
