The Collapse of the Present Under the Weight of Images

Nicolas Giraud is an artist and theorist whose practice explores the mechanisms through which images are produced, constructed, and circulated. Working across photography and the visual arts, he examines the pervasive role of representation in environments that have increasingly become little more than staged settings.

His work has been widely exhibited and published in France and internationally. He is represented by Galerie mfc-michèle didier in Paris and Galerie Dumont in Los Angeles. Alongside his artistic practice, he is active as a curator, researcher, and educator. He is a professor at the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles and has taught at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University since 2012.
