    Interview with Sophie Swaton

    LUMA Days #4 Joins the First Edition of the Agir pour le vivant Festival

    LUMA Days partnered with Agir pour le vivant for a series of lunch conversations held during the festival, from August 24 to 30, 2020, at the Nord-Pinus, one of Arles’s legendary hotels. On this occasion, festival guests were invited to take part in a series of conversations exploring questions of transition, the crisis of imagination, new geographies, and responsibility.

    In her work on the ecological transition, Sophie Swaton brings together two complementary disciplines: economics and philosophy. She describes a model in which the mechanisms of economic policy must be rethought to advance social justice while supporting and facilitating the transition.

    A philosopher and economist, Sophie Swaton is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Lausanne, where she teaches and coordinates the master’s program in the foundations and practices of sustainability. She is also President of the Zoein Foundation, which she founded to support socially minded ecological transition initiatives in Switzerland and abroad.
