Adam Haar Horowitz is a scientist whose research spans the MIT Media Lab and Harvard Medical School's Center for Sleep and Cognition. He earned his PhD at MIT and focuses on applying neuroscience to the study and modulation of sleep and dreams.
He co-invented the Dormio device and the Targeted Dream Incubation technique, both designed to influence dream content. His current work includes developing tools for nightmare treatment in collaboration with psychiatrists at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, co-organizing MIT's Dream Engineering Symposium with a focus on scientific ethics, and designing a Dream Hotel with artist Carsten Höller. His research has been featured in Nature, Science, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Harper's, the Cannes Film Festival, and the World Economic Forum.
