    From the Camargue to the Tunisian ‘desert’: how Westerns and science fiction shape landscapes and our imaginations

    How do the myths of the Western and science fiction shape our perception of territories? Through screenings and a conversation, Fredj Moussa and Corentin Laplanche Tsutsui explore representations of the Camargue and the Tunisian desert throughout the history of cinema.

    From Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show to the first Camargue westerns, from Tunisian landscapes transformed into the settings of Star Wars to contemporary science-fiction imaginaries, they examine the circulation of images, narratives, and myths that shape the ways we relate to places.

    Drawing on their respective artistic research practices, this conversation explores the connections between cinema, memory, colonialism, architecture, and landscape.
